Anti Saar: Pärt plindris
Illustrated by Anna Ring
Gal is a clever seven-year-old boy living in a small town with his parents, older brother, and younger sister. His peaceful life is occasionally disrupted by complicated situations for which Gal doesn’t have a straightforward solution. What should you do when the neighbour’s girl starts teasing you because you can’t do a somersault on the trampoline? Or when you go to the store with your dad, and he leaves you alone to wait in line at the checkout? What about accidentally missing your bus stop? And what if you really want the last piece of the cake or if a ripe plum on someone else’s tree tempts you to pick it? Gal carefully weighs the goods and the bads to find a reasonable solution…
In a brightly humorous way these five stories describe the awkward situations in which the young boy finds himself, situations that would embarrass anyone. What would young readers do in Gal’s place? The reflections and considerations of the main character offer a wide array of discussion topics, from justice, shame, teasing, support, to the importance of family.
