MARIJA-LIISA PLATS (born 1984) is an illustrator, graphic designer, photographer, and singer. She graduated in photography from the Tartu Art College. To date, she has illustrated over 40 works for children and young adults, and she regularly collaborates with the Estonian children’s magazine Täheke (“Little Star”). Her work has received numerous accolades, including the selection of three of her books for the prestigious White Ravens catalogue. She enjoys experimenting with different techniques, ensuring that her illustrations always complement the text beautifully. The books she illustrates are frequently included on the list of best-designed Estonian children’s books, curated by the Estonian Centre for Children’s Literature.
