My name is Hilli Rand. I grew up as a single child in the family and although I had a lot of friends, I still considered books to be my best friends. Now I have many children and grandchildren, but books still play a great role in my life. I could say I am really crazy about books. My husband says for joke that in my childhood I went in for archery in order to catch the Pegasus, the immortal winged horse of the Muses of poetry. Indeed I have written poetry, plays and filmscripts, but I have always loved to write books for childern the best. I am trying to write them in the manner that they would appeal to the child I used to be myself. And this is not easy at all! My works have been awarded at several book competitions and pieces of them have been translated into Russian, Finnish, Lithuanian and Udmurt languages. I am fond of travelling and have visited most European countries. Our family´s country-house has an enormous garden on the riverside. I enjoy gardening, building and constructing there. I can never have enough of it!
